Misc. Photos
WM: Here are 7 unannotated pictures that it would be nice to put names, dates, and places to.
The pictures are hyperlinked to high-resolution versions for closer inspection.

The 1969 GA in Toronto. Ruth Northcott is in the print dress and behind her head are George Ball and his wife Rose. Jeremy Tatum (?) may be seen in the back row looking at his program. The young man with his right hand raised in the back row might be Rick Simon. Fred Troyer (?) at the back - 2nd last row - with white paper on chest.
WM: a venue with red chairs
RR: Got me as to venue - could the women in the print dress be Ruth Northcott?
PB: Yes, that’s right, and directly behind Ruth’s head are George Ball and his wife. I think Jeremy Tatum may be seen in the back row looking at his program. Because of that, my first guess was Victoria but Ruth Northcott died in 1969 and no GA’s were held there until 1972.
EB: I think this is likely the 1969 Toronto GA based on the pattern of pins on George's blazer, and Mrs. Ball's coat. I can't identify the classroom but I do not think it is the McLaughlin lecture hall. The young man with his right hand raised in the back row might be Rick Simon.
RA: I think that is the McLaughlin lecture theatre. Eric Orr (Victoria) in the middle of frame? Fred Troyer at the back - 2nd last row - with white paper on chest? Hard to tell.
RC: I agree with the comments about Eric Orr and George Ball.
PJ: I’m pretty sure the guy in the middle facing the camera directly is George Ball, RASC Victoria Centre. That might be his wife Rose Ball on his right. They attended everything together.

The 1969 GA in Toronto, possibly in the Physics Department Lounge on the ground floor of the McLennan Physics building. Ken Chilton is at the rear left. The seated fellow seen in profile wearing a bow tie is Malcolm Thomson. Jack Heard is in conversation with Malcolm. Jack and Ken both died in 1976. The face in the upper right corner may be Vern Ramsay. The woman at lower left is Rosalind Sundell.
WM: is that Ken Chilton at left rear?
RR: Yes, that's Ken - and the seated fellow seen in profile wearing a bow tie is Malcolm Thomson.
PB: And Jack Heard is in conversation with Malcolm. Jack and Ken both died in 1976.
EB: The face in the upper right corner may be Vern Ramsay. The woman at lower left is Rosalind Sundell.
RC: It seems to me that the second and third photos were probably taken in the Physics Department Lounge on the ground floor of the McLennan Physics building - it would have been the most convenient place to hold the GA
reception at U of T.

The 1969 GA in Toronto, possibly in the Physics Department Lounge on the ground floor of the McLennan Physics building. Jack Heard is seated in the middle, smoking his pipe. The man facing the camera in the foreground may be R.M. Petrie who succeeded Heard as RASC President in 1955. The man with the beard may be Len Chester. The white-haired man behind Len may be Alf Scott, and he may be in conversation with A. Falk (with camera sling) and Paul Moffat. Rosalind Sundell is at lower left in the gold outfit (her back to the camera).
WM: same place as 24 (GA?)
RR: Not the same room, but definitely the same event (a GA?). Ken Chilton is standing nearly dead centre.
PB: I’m not convinced that’s Ken, but certainly Jack Heard is seated in the middle, smoking his pipe. The man facing the camera in the foreground may be R.M. Petrie who succeeded Heard as RASC President in 1955. If that’s the approximate date, then the venue would almost certainly be Toronto.
EB: The man with the beard may be Len Chester. The white-haired man behind Len may be Alf Scott, and he may be in conversation with A. Falk (with camera sling) and Paul Moffat. Rosalind Sundell is also in this one.
RC: It seems to me that the second and third photos were probably taken in the Physics Department Lounge on the ground floor of the McLennan Physics building - it would have been the most convenient place to hold the GA
reception at U of T.

The 1969 GA in Toronto. John Percy speaks to the group.
WM: reminds me of John Percy, room looks familiar
RR: I incline to your opinion.
PB: Yes. Perhaps in 1962 when he received the gold medal in Toronto.
EB: It's possible that all of these so far are from 1969.
RA: also McLaughlin [Planetarium]
RC: The photo of John Percy in the lecture theatre (no. 4) was probably taken in one of the lecture rooms in the same building - I recognize the layout.

Main entrance at the DDO, possibly taken in 1969.
WM: DDO
RR: Could, just possibly be Ruth Northcott approaching the steps.
PB: I’m doubtful. Ruth was always more erect than that.

The 1969 GA in Toronto. A. Falk and Paul Moffat of the Toronto Centre are at left.
WM: GA display with people
PB: I’m pretty sure, the one in the middle was a Toronto Centre person, (perhaps Vern Ramsay?). Likely the others were Toronto Centre members too but I can’t come up with any names.
EB: A. Falk and Paul Moffat again. There is a complete index of names in JRASC accompanying the 1969 group photo but it hasn't been turned into a "names" file yet. [Another project for WM!—Done.]

The 1969 GA in Toronto. J.H. Horning (l) and John Percy (r).
WM: guy on left is Horning? (based on this photo: https://rasc.ca/gold-medal-1956), guy on right Percy?
RR: I think you're right about both.
PB: Agreed! I wonder if the photo dates from 1962. Horning retired as RASC Treasurer in 1960 and received the Service Award, but it may not have been presented to him until 1962, the same year that Percy received the gold medal.
EB: I think this is still from 1969, although Horning is not wearing a vest under his blazer in the group photo like he is here.
RA: Has John Percy of '62 or '69 remorphed into Eric Briggs of '13? Scary stuff.
