E.A. Morgan

Longtime Hamilton Centre member and observer.

At an early age Mr. E.A. Morgan became interested in Astronomy.
He joined the Hamilton Astronomical Society in 1902. He attended
many observing meetings on the lawn of Dr. Marsh. Stirred by the
beauty he saw in Dr.Marsh's telescope, he contracted Dr. Marsh to
make him a 2½" refractor. This telescope was one of three such
made by Dr. Marsh and it is still in use by the Morgan family today.
Mr. Morgan has always led an active life but has had to curtail
his activities as of late due to illness. However, he has been able
to cut his own lawn, up until 2 years ago!

He faithfully attended meetings until 1959, and it required little
persuasion to induce him to come out and see the Apollo 8 film
last month. He was roundly applauded at the meeting.

Here Mr. Morgan is more to you! Of our recorded history of 67
years, your name has been connected. You are our senior member.
It surely requires a devotion to a hobby for one to pursue it as
long as you have. Our hats are off to you and may you enjoy many
more years of happiness and good health. May you be an inspiration
to some of our other senior members to come and see us some time!
