Jupiter on 1960 June 18/19 at 23:30-23:50 local time (03:30-03:50 UT) as sketched by K.R. Brasch. 8" reflector at 165x. Seeing 2-3. Transparency 2. More detail visible at intervals, could not be recorded due to bad seeing conditions.
Jupiter on 1960 June 18/19 at 22:20+25m EST (03:20 UT) as sketched by Jim Low. C.M.(1) 162º, C.M.(2) 159º. 4" reflector at 130x, 167x. Seeing 4/10. Transparency 4½/5. North is down. Satellites I, and III were observed to be in conjunction (i.e.—forming a 90º angle with the zones of the planet) at 23h 28m. EST (04h 28m UT), and they were about 20" apart.
Jupiter on 1960 June 12/13 at 00:15+23m EST (05:15 UT) as sketched by Jim Low. C.M.(1) 4º, C.M.(2) 45º. 4" reflector at 130x. Seeing 4/10. Transparency 4½/5. North is down.

Red spot seen, a gray washed out colour similar to S.P. region. Easier seen with the aid of a light blue filter, as outline of spot is more distinct. Shadow + disk of satellite I seen, shadow left disk at 03:19, disk of satellite at 03:29.

S.I. of shadow of satellite I at beginning of observation—1:37 EST. T.I. of satellite begun at 1:50 EST, disk easily visible, brighter than surrounding zone N.T.Z. of main planet.
