      You are invited to attend the first and the RASC to be held in Halifax, June joint meeting of the CASCA 1980. This is being hosted by both the Astronomy Department of Saint Mary's Halifax Centre of the RASC. We are planning one as well as joint social gatherings.

Invited Lecturers

      The invited speakers are being chosen by both the CASCA and the RASC local committees and will be of interest to both societies. These talks have been scheduled for the Saturday joint scientific day. Speakers include Dr. Helen Hogg, Dr. Rene Racine, and Dr. Ernest Seaquist.

Contributed Papers

      Abstracts of contributed papers for the scientific sessions should be submitted in a form suitable for reproduction. Please the enclosed single page making sure to keep all type within the boxed area. Include the title and names of authors as well as the name and address of the institution or centre. These are to be mailed by June 2, 1980 to Dr. G. Mitchell, Department of Astronomy, Mary's University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3H 3C3 Those who have already submitted RASC abstracts to Dr. M. Cunningham need not resubmit. It may not be possible to include late abstracts in the programme. Rules for presentation of CASCA papers are given in the Journal of the RASC 66, 216, 1972 and 69, 241, 1975. The procedures outlined in JRASC 73, L84, 1979.

      A certain number of contributed papers from both societies will be selected for presentation at the joint sessions on Saturday.

Receptions and Reqistration Desks

      There will be an informal reception on June 25th in the Art Gallery of Saint Mary's University. At that time a registration table for CASCA will be open. Registration may also be carried out during the morning of the first meeting day, June 26th, for late arrivals. There will be a table at the meeting rooms for this.

Society Dinner

      The CASCA dinner will be held jointly with the RASC banquet. It will be on the evening of Saturday June 28th. We are planning a lobster meal, but can arrange for an alternative if you do not desire lobster. (Please indicate such on the return form.) The cost of the dinner is $11.00 per person.

Lodging

      We recommend that you take advantage of accomodations in the University residence. We will make your reservations if you indicate your preferences on the return form...
