Asteroid (13111) Papacosmas

Discovered by C. S. Shoemaker and D. H. Levy at Palomar
Named in honour of Constantine Papacosmas (1939-2022) an accomplished amateur astronomer in Montréal who has guided thousands of people to learn the night sky. Constantine was the third person to complete the Messier Certificate, first awarded in the late 1950s by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Montréal Centre. The telescopes he has constructed are among the finest in Canada, including a refractor that won an award at Stellafane in 1979.
