DESTINATION: Grand'mere, Quebec
For members and their friends who would like to see the total eclipse of the sun on
JuJy 20th but have no private means of transportation or are concerned about the
traffic there will be on that day, the Montreal Centre is sponsoring a spoial train
to Grand'mere, which is located close to the centre of the path of totality.

OBSERVING THE ECLIPSE
In the Grand'mere area, totality will last about 65 seconds and will occur at apprctci-
mately 5:39 pun. E.D,T. The partial phase will begin about an hour earlier and will
end at appraximate]y 6:45 pan. (Information leaflets will be given to everyone
boarding the train and in each coach will be members of the Montreal Centre prepared
to answer questions) The Eclipse Special win arrive at Grand'mere in plenty of
tine to see the whole show. Arrangements have been made for this group to have the
use of the recreation grounds which are about ten minutes' walk from the railway
station. The field has a good western horizon and there will be ample room to
set up camera tripods.
REFRESHMENTS
As there will be no restaurant car on the train, some people will want to take along
picnic lunches. However, there is a lunch counter at the recreation field, and
there will also be an opportunity to purchase light refreshments when the train makes
a half-hour stop at Trois Rivieres both on the way to Grand'mere and on the return
trip.
