My Dear Sir
Your esteemed favour of the 11th came duly to hand. I delayed for a few days to see if I could not find time to write an article worthy of your acceptance.
The accounts of unexpected business have compelled me for a time to lay aside all scientific pursuits. I feel highly honored by the request & will bear it in mind should I get (over) a little more leisure in the future.
Yours very truly
