RASC Centres host Lunar Eclipse Observing Events

During the upcoming Total Lunar Eclipse on Sunday September 27, various RASC centres will be running public observing sessions. If the weather cooperates, telescopes will be set up at various sites across the country to provide views of the eclipse to members of the public. RASC members will be there to operate the telescopes and answer questions about the eclipse.

Calgary - Calgary Centre has events at the Calgary Canoe Club, Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park , Elliston Park, AllStar Telescope and at the Vulcan Trek Centre.

RASC member Jim Chung's book published by Springer!

 

Astro-Imaging Projects for Amateur Astronomers, Jim Chung's intelligent and attractively written guide to making and adapting imaging and observing gear, has recently appeared in Springer's Patrick Moore Practical Astronomy Series.

Those familiar with Jim's articles in the RASC's Journal will know of his genius for devising understandable and doable solutions which perform as well as their commercial counterparts, and at a fraction of the cost.

The RASC Purchases SkyNews

The Board of Directors of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) are pleased to announce that the RASC has purchased SkyNews Incorporated.

SkyNews Inc. has published SkyNews magazine since 1999.  SkyNews Inc. also owns skynews.ca and  publishes a monthly e-newsletter.  SkyNews is the Canadian magazine for amateur astronomers and is the only popular, English-language science magazine for adults published in Canada.
