Logging into Member-Only Resources
Note: If the instructions below do not solve your problem and you have to contact our office staff, please be patient. We do have a small and busy staff and are definitely not running a 24/7 operation.
The RASC maintains three areas of restricted content:
- This section is reserved for information about the Society, its management and benefits reserved for members.
- It is accessed with a single username and password that is changed periodically.
- When accessing this section, your web browser should prompt for a username and password.
- Everyone uses the same username and password. This is largely used to keep search engines out so that documents therein are not available to the general public.
- Important: You cannot use your personalized password from the RASC Secure Web Portal to login here!
- This single username and password can be found out several ways.
- It is periodically emailed to members,
- Someone on your Centre's executive can tell you what it is
- You login to the Society's secure portal (see item 3 below), the login page always provide the current username and password with a link
- Request it using the Member Service link at left.
- After you log in the first time, it is best to allow your web browser to save this username and password for the next time.
2.
Recent Issues of the Journal of the RASC
- This section contains the last year's issues of the Journal. These issues are only available to current members and institutional subscribers.
- It is accessed with a single username and password that is changed once a year, usually with the February issue. The previous year's password usually works for an issue or two.
- When accessing this section, your web browser should prompt for a username and password.
- Everyone uses the same username and password. This is largely used to keep search engines out so that issues therein are not available to the general public.
- Important: You cannot use your personalized password from the RASC Secure Web Portal to login here!
- This single username and password can be found out several ways:
- It is emailed to current members at the time that every new issue of the Journal is announced,
- Someone on your Centre's executive can tell you what it is,
- If you login to the Society's secure portal (see item 3 below), the login page always provide the current username and password with a link.
- Request it using the Member Service link at left.
- After you log in the first time, it is best to allow your web browser to save this username and password for the next time. This should give you about a year of easy access.
3. The RASC Secure Web Portal
- This secure site allows you to :
- Update your address, e-mail and personal information
- View your current membership status
- Update your National Options
- Assign a personal password and login
- Purchase publications and promotional items
- Soon, you will be able to renew your membership too!
- Every member is assigned a unique username and password for this site.
- Important: You cannot use the generic username and password mentioned in items 1 and 2 above!
- If you have not previously setup a username and password for the site do the following steps:
- Goto the secure site by clicking here.
- Click on the "Reset my Password" link near the bottom of the page
- When the new page is displayed, type in your current email address in the "e-Mail" field box and press the "submit" button.
- Important: This must be the same email address that you are receiving Society email notices from (such as the monthly eNews and new Journal issue notices - if you are not receiving these notices then use the Member Service link at left to add an email address to your membership record).
- A box should come up that says: "An email containing a link that will allow you to reset your password will be sent momentarily."
- Within a few minutes you should receive an email with instructions and a link to reset your password.
- If it does not arrive, be sure to check the folder that your mail software may use to store suspected "spam" email.
- If a box comes up that says: "The data you entered does not match our records." then we don't have your email address (or at least that email address) on file in your membership record. Use the Member Service link at left to update your record.
- If a box comes up that says: "More than one user is associated with the information that you entered. For security reasons your login and password can not be changed on the web. Please contact us.", this likely means you are in our database as a customer and a member. The office staff has to fix this. Use the Member Service link at left to request this be fixed - specify in the "message" box that the secure site said there were two accounts with the same email and you could not reset your password.
- If you continue to have problems, contact the national office by phone.
