Hugh Maclean

(1915-2003) An active observer, and founding member of the Niagara Centre in 1960; recipient of the Service Award in 1984.


HUGH N.A. MACLEAN (1915-) was a founding member of the Niagara Falls Centre in 1960 and ever since has been involved at one time or another in every phase of the Centre's activities. He gave many talks and slide shows at Centre meetings; he was active in school visits and star nights, telescope making, and in the production of the Centre newsletter, Whirlpool, and he served in a number of offices including the Presidency from 1966-68 and 1978-79. In 1984, Niagara Centre accorded Hugh Maclean the unique honour of being their only member ever nominated for the national Service Award.
