ANNOUNCEMENT #4, JUNE 18, 1962.   COMET HUMASON, 1961e

COMET AND NOVA SECTION, ROYAL ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF CANADA

     For about six months during 1962, Comet Humason will be visible in
binoculars and small telescopes. Until opposition on August 21, the comet
will be in the morning sky moving from Pisces through Aquarius and bright-
ening from magnitude 8 to 6. After opposition, it will move through
Capricornus and Sagittarius. By September, the comet will have a low dec-
lination, and after that month it will be difficult to observe, except from
southern Canada.

     The following ephemeris gives the Right Ascension, Declination, and
magnitude of Comet Humason.

     Would the Centres of the R.A.S.C. please let interested observers
Know about this comet.  It should be possible to make numerous observations,
and this section would like an all-out effort to make detailed observations
of this comet over the next few months.
